Neal is definitely the more impactful player now, but age and contracts must have come in play in Nashville's decision. Jarnkrok is on a very team-friendly deal, while the older Neal about to become UFA.

Those are certainly Poile's reasons for his decision. It's just that many of us disagree with them. Neal with even only one year left had more value than Jarnkrok with 5 left. The real crux of the issue, though, is that it would've been easier to talk McPhee into taking someone other than Jarnkrok than it was to talk him into taking someone other than Neal.
